1. Our Commitment

• BAE Systems Strategic Aerospace Services Limited (BSL UK) recognises the importance of addressing climate change and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions arising from business operations. As a responsible professional services organisation, we are committed to supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy and operating in an environmentally sustainable manner.
• In alignment with the UK Government’s legally binding climate commitments, BSL UK is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 .
• This commitment reflects our intention to integrate environmental responsibility into all areas of our business and to continually improve our environmental performance.

2. Scope

a) This policy applies to all operations, employees, contractors and business activities undertaken by BSL UK within the United Kingdom.

b) As a professional services organisation operating in a hybrid working environment, our primary sources of carbon emissions arise from:

• Energy consumption associated with office premises
• Business travel undertaken by employees
• Use of information technology and digital infrastructure
• Procurement of goods and services

3. Carbon Reduction Commitment

a) To support our Net Zero objective, BSL UK commits to:

• Establishing and maintaining a carbon emissions baseline in accordance with recognised methodologies including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
• Monitoring and reporting emissions associated with Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 sources.
• Implementing operational measures to reduce energy consumption and improve efficiency.
• Promoting sustainable business travel practices, prioritising remote collaboration and lower-emission transport options.
• Working with suppliers and partners that demonstrate responsible environmental practices.
• Engaging employees in initiatives that support energy efficiency, waste reduction and environmentally responsible behaviour.

b) BSL UK will implement practical carbon reduction initiatives with an initial objective of achieving at least a 20% reduction in operational emissions by 2030 relative to the baseline year.

4. Governance and Monitoring

a) Responsibility for the implementation and oversight of this policy rests with BSL UK Senior Leadership Team.

b) Progress towards carbon reduction objectives will be:

• monitored on an ongoing basis;
• formally reviewed annually; and
• updated where necessary to reflect regulatory developments, operational changes and best practice in environmental management.

c) Where required, BSL UK will publish and maintain a Carbon Reduction Plan in accordance with UK Government Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 06/21 to support participation in public sector procurement opportunities.

5. Commitment to Continuous Improvement

a) BSL UK is committed to continuously improving its environmental performance and contributing to the UK’s transition towards a Net Zero economy by 2050. Where emissions cannot be eliminated through operational improvements, the company will consider credible and verified carbon offsetting mechanisms to address residual emissions.
